  • Pest control products: important buying advice

We are sharing this advice after two separate fatal and life-changing incidents have taken place in Tower Hamlets. Of these incidents, one resulted in the death of an 11-year-old girl, and another left a woman with serious health issues and no savings. Professional pest control products are belived to have caused these incidents. When used by untrained residents, the gas from these products can be hazardous and cause explosions and fires. The products in question are intended for professional use, to treat house pests such as bedbugs and cockroaches. It is highly likely that, in these cases, the insecticide was shipped in from outside of the UK and bought from unreputable sellers. More info:

  • Covid-related service disruption

Waste collections in some areas have been delayed due to increase in staff absence following illness/ self-isolation. Agency staff has been put in place to continue delivering the service- however there may be some delays to your normal collection day/ times. Due to technical fault with vehicles, Tower Hamlets have not been able to empty underground refuse storage systems on some estates. They are allocating crews to pick up the build-up of waste at these locations so they remain as clear as possible. We are working hard to get the vehicles back on the road as soon as possible. Thanking you for your patience

  • Protecting our staff and residents

We would like to assure residents that Spitalfields Housing Association is continuing to run all normal services, however we are putting provisions in place to provide essential services to our residents should the situation worsen. We want to protect our staff and residents from the risk of infection, therefore we may ask for additional information when you contact us to arrange a repair or services that may require a home visit.
