Repairs & Maintenance

In order to maintain these standards Spitalfields HA only uses tried and tested contractors who must be registered with Construction Line, which is a governing body for all construction companies. The maintenance section constantly monitors the contractor’s work throughout the year.

Spitalfields HA is responsible for certain aspects of repairs and maintenance to tenants home and tenants are responsible for others. If you report a repair which is Tenant’s responsibility the Association will charge you for the repair work.

Spitalfields continues to adopt a collaborative style in carrying out cyclical and major repairs programmes. Key to our success has been the introduction of a Bengali speaking Resident Liaison Officer, based on site and providing a vital communication link between tenants and site/office management, ensuring that work is carried out smoothly, with any problems being resolved on site with the minimum disruption to tenants.

Key features of the Resident Liaison Officer’s role are:

• Being accessible to tenants in person or by mobile phone.
• Dealing promptly with tenants queries or complaints.
• Consulting tenants about improvements to their home, involving them in the decision making process through the use of both meetings and newsletters.
• Communication in both English and Bengali.

We believe that working collaboratively with our contractors and consultants has helped to provide a more efficient service on behalf of our tenants, enabling us to greatly improve both the quality and value for money of the services provided.
