Becoming a Tenant

Spitalfields HA works together with Tower Hamlets Common Housing Register Partners to meet local housing needs through 'Choice Based Lettings'.

This system gives the applicants more choice about where they want to live. It was introduced to replace the old complicated system where applicants were awarded points depending on your housing

circumstances.

'Choice based lettings' is based on four community groups, graded according to housing need. Applicants for housing will be placed in a band and we will take into account the time you've been registered.

Bidding for homes: If you are on the housing list you can bid (apply) to rent one of the properties that we advertise. You must register your interest in a home with us to be considered for it.

How to Bid

You can bid for the advertised properties you want by:

Lodging a bid for properties at the Tower Hamlets homeseekers website, or
Using the automated telephone line on 0845 270 2400 which is available in Bengali, Somali, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Urdu as well as English

You can also withdraw bids if you change your mind by using the website or telephone bidding systems. LBTH advertises every home that becomes available to let. Information about available homes can be found by clicking the link below and follow the link to Tower Hamlets Homeseekers’ website:http://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/data/housing/data/lettings/

You need to be on the housing register before you can bid.

Offers are made in priority order, based on the lettings policy. For information about the policy, click on Tower Hamlets Lettings policy.
